Who I’m Following This Week #3

Crazy cat at Louis Vuitton

This week I have been completely wrapped up in GQ’s coverage of the street style and fashion weeks at Pitti Uomo, Milan and Paris. GQ may be not-so-cool for their portrayal of women (read: their portrayal of women as raunchy pinups), which can surely only be entertaining for a portion of the men who read their magazine. Aside from that, they’ve got to have some of the best coverage when it comes to the men’s fashion weeks, and with Tommy Ton on their team, they’re sure to be presenting the best street style photography out there. I have recently been posting some of the images that have stood out to me whether because they have actually made me pine after my own Fall 2013, or because they have been deliciously bat sh*t. Here are some of the shots that I feel still need to be seen from GQ’s encyclopedic documentation of the past week or two.

I probably wouldn’t do this, but comfy

I have also been following Katherine Lowe’s hilarious and endearing over-sharing on her blog katherineisawesome.com. The nice thing about a blogger who over-shares is, if you care about them, it really lets you follow their life and get to know them as a person without really ever knowing them. Gee whizz, I swear I’m not a stalker. I guess I do the same thing with characters in TV shows - I begin to make connections with them in ways akin to friendship. This week, Katherine shared something like 35 fears and worries in a post on Monday and told in her Highs and Low(e)s post on Sunday that she had awful vertigo despite sitting on the floor at that point. This inspired me to do some over-sharing of my own of the vertigo variety.

For the past near-two weeks I have had what is called Labyrinthitis, which is a condition that affects your balance. When it was first hitting me two Sundays ago, I thought I was over-tired, dehydrated or just getting head rushes. By Monday morning I had crawled to my parent’s bedroom to ask to be taken to the doctor. One’s balance is affected in a way that any head movement makes your whole world spin or sway, and for the first day or so you can have horrible nausea. For these first days eating is minimal and even the cool sick-day things like watching too much television or doing the Internet are overruled by a need to stay still on your side and have nothing move in your vision.

I was pretty much better by the next Sunday when it came back again with a vengeance on Monday. It even worsened on Tuesday when nausea hit again and resulted in real-life vomiting. Which I hate. Especially when you can’t crawl fast enough to the bathroom and have to have your mother bring you a bowl in the hallway. Thanks mum! I am on the mend now, so it seems.

Wasn’t that funny? Maybe I need to work on what I over-share :-/
